I grew up on a farm in the 1950's and from what I saw at our place, and at many other farms and shops then, I formed the conclusion that there were many makers of small tools in the early part of the 1900's and very few of them put their names on the tools. I still have a few of our tools, none of them are marked. I think people then were pretty good judges of tools, and valued strength and design more than a brand name.
