old coke machine freon info

Hello- I dont know if this is the proper location to post a question, but I have a Freon question. If you do know, please help, if not, please let me know of a source. Question is- I have an old Coke Machine- model V-81. I need to re-charge it w/ more R12 Freon- how many oz?

Data plate should specify the oz required. Hope you have some of the R-12, or good luck finding it.

Normally I would send you to the soda-machines.com forums, but it looks like they have been hacked. First, I'm not sure that it takes R12. You should be able to find the spec, and the amount with a google search. If you have to charge it anyways, you may want to convert to a more modern (and much more efficient) compressor.

There will be a plate telling what refrigerant is needed, and how much. There were several different versions used over the years so it is hard to guess which is the right one. If there is no data plate on the back of it, check the compressor itself to see if it says.
