After referencing all of the vice threads on here to get some background and information on this vice as well as restoration tips, I thought I would post up some pictures of the finished restoration. It's a Columbian 505 (curved letters on one side, straight on the other) that has been at our cabinet shop since it was opened back in 1964. I'm not sure when my Grandpa purchased the vice or if it was new when he purchased it. My dad and I are in the process of restoring a car and we needed a vice so after I took a closer look at it I realized what we had and began gathering information about its history and how to restore it.

Here are some before and after pictures!

74: WELL DONE SIR!! you did a fantastic job restoring the vise and love to hear when guys and gals keep their grand dad's tools.

Welcome to the forum and hope you start a thread on that car restoration. i don't usually go in that section because i'm busy enough with the garage galleries and old tools, but one day i'd like to maybe find an old Mustang again and spiff it up.

you might want to go in your GJ member's profile and put in your location either city/state or area like i did and if you have a picture of your 74 Vette you might post a picture of it even if pretty rough and update it later by clicking on AVATAR and downloading it.

good luck with the car and sounds like fun working with your DAD.

Thanks everyone for the positive welcome and feedback! I have been on vacation so this was my first chance to reply. I will post up some pictures of the restoration in the future after we get our auto shop area finished and make some more progress on the car. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more vices ;)
