Old Compressor

Can any one tell me what make this is. Works great its 3 cylinders side number on casing p66653c head 24007 base4495f Fills a60gallon tank in 3min dont know the rpm and motor hp she should run at. Any help would be great thanks.

Judging by the fittings and lack of oil sump it appears to be a refrigeration compressor. The problem with using a ref compressor is they're supposed to be lubes by droplets of oil circulating with refrigerant in a closed system. It won't last long as a dry air compressor.

It is a splash lubrication compressor and seeing that it has service valves on the manifolds tells me it was for some kind of refrigeration setup.

What do people make of the cast lettering on the side that says, "Type P" and "Level". I'm thinking "Level" is the oil level at the fitting next to the word, while Type P might be the type of oil, however I'm not aware of any Type P oil. Anybody? There is a polyolester oil used in modern AC units, but it's called POE, and it's for adding to the AC unit.

P oil is used in commercial type refrigeration system compressors (reciprocating, rotory vane and screw), ammonia, r22 and r502 based

69442, what are your plans now? Maybe there's some way to properly lube this thing. This is a wild idea, but would running it tipped over at an angle help lube the cylinders? If run tipped at an angle, perhaps the crankcase oil would splash into the cylinders. Or would it deprive the mains and rods of lube too much?

I had a compressor that was made from an old refigeration compressor and it was not much account as a air compressor as the intake air came from the crankcase through a valve in the top of the piston. I bought it over 45 years ago and finally scrapped it to make sure nobody would be injured by the 70 ??year old air tank. That compressor may have the same setup.
