My house was built in 1947 by a WW2 vet. When he and his wife passed, the house sat vacant until I purchased it from his daughter. I am good friends with the family so when they had an estate sale, they allowed me to set anything I might want aside. There were a couple small, metal tool boxes in the garage and that's pretty much all I wanted.
That was eight years ago. I finally dug them out to see what was in them and found a few neat tools.
Set of old Craftsman tappet wrenches.
Complete set of Indestro tools including ratchets, wrenches and sockets.
Random Snap On sockets.
Lots of Craftsman wrenches that have a -v- on them.
Anyways, I added them to my main collection and have been using the heck out of them. Recently did a transmission swap on my suburban and some of the long double box end wrenches were the ticket to get into some hard to reach places.
I know some guys wouldn't use them, but that's not my style. The only tools I don't use are the ratchets. My newer Proto and Snap On ones are just so smoooth compared to the old ones. And to be fair, I am a little kinder to these than I am some of my newer tools.
