I picked up a craftsman model 106.175781 from the original owner. It seems to be working fine but I want to do some preventative maintenance to make sure it gives me a few years of service. I have read a few threads about failures so I think I have a reasonable idea of what to do but I am hoping folks here can clarify a few points. Below are the items I am planning on and questions on each
1) Check/change oil. 30wt non detergent?
2) Air filters. Can these be removed and cleaned or do they need to be replaced?
3) Check valve - I believe this is a common problem, was planning to pull it and clean it. Located where line from pump enters tank?
4) Reed flippers - check, clean and make sure screws are secure as they are prone to come loose and fall into the cylinder. Will I need all new gaskets? If so can I make my own and what is the best material?
