Old Delco (Frigidaire) Repulsion motor brush lifting issue

I just received this motor in the mail today, but it appears that the brush lifting mechanism is acting strangely, sometimes leaving the bottom two brushes connected. I have a video of it I will add. I took it apart and reassembled it, and it made no difference. It also makes a quite obnoxious sound. Any ideas? It's my first time working on a repulsion-type motor, so I'm not too familiar with it.

Agree.

Those old mechanisms were pretty reliable but over time they tend to stick. A good cleaning and some lube will usually solve the problem.

I removed the brush adjustment bracket and readjusted it, it had fallen a bit and was pushing the brush assembly forward. I oiled the brush lifter, and it seems to be doing much better
