I saw this old die stock in a lot of tools for sale in McMinnville, Oregon, a nearby city. It is interesting in that the company name and city are cast into the guide that centers the work in the die. It reads "Goldsmith and Lowenberg Portland ORE."
I found a reference to Goldsmith and Lowenberg from the Portland Oregonian newspaper. It was dated 10/29/1882, and mentioned them as "agents" for a company making iron stoves. From this I assume that they were a general hardware/dry goods operation, and the die stock guide was a form of advertising, rather than a maker's name.
Kind of interesting, and somewhat local.
