I didn't buy them... but I may go back. 20 bucks.

I am a bit of a 6" caliper aficionado, and I have never seen that model before; never even knew it existed. I do have an early generation Starrett digital caliper but it looks absolutely futuristic compared to your B&S example. I'll be happy to see yours come to life, and for some more pictures as you get it to work, please! Thanks.

^^ if you google image search brown and sharp digit cal some discussions come up.. one over at PM. Evidently these were '79/'80 era.
Very cool. I immediately got that early digital vibe from Live and Let Die where Bond uses his state of the art digital watch.
Looks like the caliper might take a special rechargeable battery. Shouldn't be too hard to rig something up.

I went back an opened them up.. didn't like what I saw.. pass. Would make cool shop decor, but I'd rather have 20 bucks.

Battery void was a suspicious size, two wires looked cut.. they may have gone to battery(s). The ribbon that went to the read out (wide) looked like it had been clipped by the small screw that held the cover on. No corrosion.

That was how the early electronic digital models looked. They were bulky, had poor balance, and were so delicate that nobody outside inspection used them for fear of dirt/coolant rendering them unusable. They were the new gadget to have, the next coming wave of technology, and had no real advantage over existing mechanical instruments. IIRC they didn't even have SPC data to download until a generation/version later. Never liked B&S calipers, even the analog ones. Cool finding an early digital model.

I like B&S, Starrett and Mitutoyo mechanical calipers all about equally, for different reasons, but they all are excellent to use.
