Old dirty Weaver jack, worth saving?

Hello everyone,
New member here, looking for advice.

I have an opportunity to buy an old floor jack - see picture. I think this is the Weaver 10 ton model? The owner wants $200. I was told it is working/functional but the handle is broken. I am not sure what else is broken.

Is this worth it? How much do you think I need to spend in parts to bring this back to working condition? I will be doing the fixing, but I dont know anything about jack, but willing to learn. I am pretty handy at fixing my vehicles, so it cant be that difficult, right?

I like to be able to use it my garage for fixing my SUV. I know this is overkill, but my craftsman jack just died on me, and I am in need of another floor jack. I dont want to buy another import jack if possible. Buying brand new US made jack is a bit too out of my price range.

Appreciate any advice.

Wa75 is a 10 ton, check with Castle equipment for seal kits/parts.

That thing is a monster. While this seems like a good idea it is not an auto jack, it will end up in the way. Parts cost are unknown, it works but handle busted is a long shot.
I know there is a fondness for greasy old junk and we got some real experts can help with it but this is not the tool for you. I am no familiar with all the choices, I am sure someone is but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, one of the nicest jack I have used is an an orange one my Bud got 25 yrs ago for 200, not sure they make it anymore but it is a 5T long with foot pump.

Looks like a cool old tool but I think that it's more than you need both in terms of it's size/capacity and in the amount of work and money it's going to require to bring it back to where you want it to be. Also, I'm not thinking that $200 for that jack in that condition is the bargain you are hoping for. I'd walk away from it and find something else. Good luck.

Agree that this jack is huge. The ideal size for me is 4-5T, but after months of searching, and this 10T pop up. I was just thinking hhmm... maybe this would work, I got the space in the garage haha...

I may still pick it up but not at $200. Its just too cool, and dont want this to end up in scrap yard.

I hear what you're saying about searching and not finding anything and then this jumps in front of you. BUT, it's not really what you were hoping for. It's only in the "maybe I could make it work" category and the owner wants a lot for what it is. If the guy told you to take it for free or you could trade for it, then go for it. Good luck.

Owner doesn't have the gumption to rebuild it, and you'll need to buy parts plus all your labor to restore it. Surely he'd like to see it rebuilt.

He is right........this is only a $50 jack. Consider the parts, and hours to get it right will be a lot. Show up with 50 bucks and a buddy to help load it and see what happens.

Lol, IMO the Wa75 is severe overkill for what the OP is requiring, and it's possible he doesn't really understand the size of the Jack if he hasn't seen it in Person, it tips the scale at around 350lbs and that model runs about $2400 New and is a current production model. If you go shoving this thing under a Small SUV you better be damn sure nothing is in the way, this Jack packs a punch and can damage stuff that gets in the way.. LOL. I would definitely put the scout time in, see what's actually broken as by the pictures it appears someone just removed the handle as the cross pins are still there, IF by chance there is something broken, contact Castle Equipment and price replacements, it's not often in today's world that you find companies that support there product. The Weaver Lineup is a stupid simple design, Thus very little to go wrong and heavily sought after in working condition, the last few I sold brought around $1300 in rebuilt, ready to go condition. Obviously the Op should inspect the Jack taking note of components, piston finishes, casters etc... But $200 doesn't scare me, $50 is Better but unlikely IMO.

Yes, I know how big (weight and length) this jack is - like I said, a bit overkill for what I need, even for lifting my land cruiser. Isnt some wise man say, go big or go home? Or something like that lol...

I may try to stop by and take a look if still not sold... If I do end up buying, I will report back for sure... and if I buy it, you all are recruited to help me fix this up haha....

If you are going to pass, how about passing the sellers info/CL link onto the memberships, if one actually needs a 10 ton unit it "Might" still be a good buy.

I wish I could, its not on CL anymore. Its been there for months, so it could be just it expires. I really hope its not scrapped.

So I am still looking for a floor jack. Any idea where I can get a good one with reasonable price beside CL? Anyone know who sell refurb jacks? Ideally 3-5T, but slightly smaller or larger is fine.

Brand new jacks seems to be out of my price range.
