Snagged this 1/4" drive drill about a year ago. Been using it, ran fine. A little bit of a burnt smell seemed to come out of it. I just thought it was the old insulation.
Decided to take it apart and check it out. Glad I did! Full of sawdust and soot, gear grease was dry and hard, a real mess. Yet it has worked fine for a year. I cleaned, lubed, sanded, and repainted it with some hammered gray I had laying around.
She runs better, quieter, and I'd really like to find out more about it. Any thoughts?

Nice old workhorse!
Looks like the patent # on mine has a 1963 date assigned to it. And the company who made it sold them to JC Penny.

Dang it, now I've got something else to look for!:lol_hitti
