Old Drill Press-VA

Local guy here in VA is selling this. Anyone interested? It turns free, and he's just looking for offers, no clue what it's worth. I just thought it was very cool and who knows, one of y'all may have been searching for one.

I've got one just like it. Paid $80. It had been converted and has a motor.

Can you get a photo of the lettering on the arm of the machine that tells the manufacturer?

It's the older version of a drill press, commonly called a camelback.

Great for slow speed, large diameter drilling, but requires constant manual lubrication.

Everyone should have one.

Thanks for the info Bill. Guy has tons of tools so the next time he invites me out there I'll take a closer look at the arm, but just going off memory, I don't recall any. He also has an old massive horizontal band saw/stand that bears the same Carey Machinery plate although, I have no clue how I'd move it.

That's too cool! Would definitely want some kind of safety cage around where the enormous belt would have to run though!

If anyone is daft enough to stick appendages near a plainly visible wide, flat belt whilst running, safety guards are only delaying the inevitable. People need to learn to think and use their gorm, not to be constantly protected from their own stupidity.

if i had a farm or a nice detached shop i'd even buy that for $50 to have some yard art instead of seeing it scrapped.
