Old drill restoration - broken feed hub

Hi all,

Just looking for a few pointers regarding the broken feed hub on my drill press

I was thinking of perhaps cutting a piece of mild steel to fill in the hole and then welding it in, but are there any better ideas? I don't seem able to find the replacement part, correct me if I'm wrong but looking by the grain pattern it looks to be cast iron

I'm having trouble uploading images here not sure if links are allowed I'll take them down if not

I don't know what equipment you have but I wouldn't expect to be able to just weld in a chunk of steel. I think the CI will crack. You could braze it though. If you can take it off, that's what I would do. Second choice would be to fill it with epoxy.
