1) voltage 2) rpm 3) mounting base 4)hp 5) rotation 6) shaft diameter and length

I would try a local motor repair shop to see if it can be repaired or if they have one someone didn't return for.

That "POP" noise is probably a thermal overload resetting. When was the last time it was cleaned/lubed? What's the amp draw as compared to the FLA rating?

Disassemble, clean, freshen connections, lube and reassemble. Then see how it works. You may find something obvious like dragging armature due to worn bearings. If no change, no obvious defect, then see advice above.

If the motor is driving the saw with a belt, I would forget about trying to repair it and just get a different motor. You can probably go to an appliance dealer and buy a 1/3 hp used motor out of an old junk Maytag washing machine for about $10 or so. We used to sell them all the time when I was working at an appliance dealer.

Yep, as prior posts have indicated, the motor was tripping the automatic thermal overload and the pop sound was the bi-metal disc (inside the interal overload protector) cooling down enough to pop back into shape and closing the connection.

That just means the motor was overheating and given the age, it's likely just packed with sawdust, I would just blow it out and see if you can make it run again.

Thanks for info gents, figured what the heck and took motor apart and was shocked. Everything from sawdust ,mouse nest[ripped apart] and a darn old 1957 series dollar bill with corner ripped off. Let run for 1/2 hour then cut some more wood pieces. Thanks again.
