Niche topic but still interesting. Found this in one of the shelves in the garage from the 50s. I imagine it was my great-grandpa's, a lot of the stuff there was his. I have never seen this brand before, the only thing I could find is a Meteor electrical wholesale place. Any info on its age or manufacture?

Can you tell if its Bakelite? If it is, its probably 1900s-1940s.

4. The Sound Test (“Clunk” Test)

  • Tap two Bakelite pieces together. Genuine Bakelite produces a distinctive deep “clunk” sound, unlike the hollow or plastic-like sound of modern resins.
It is!

Google Books has lots of references to companies named meteor including the word electrical some US, others UK based. To hard to read the vintage texts on my phone but you might find more here.

You can easily turn the date range down to something a little more precise

From an old, discarded string of Christmas tree lights? Christmas decorations in the 40s and 50s often had names/labels similar to that. Just a wild a— — guess.
