Old floor jack identification

I'm repeating the same question--is the old jack worth rebuilding???
So I have had this jack for about twenty years-received from my late brother. I don't know how long he had owned it before me. It has been sitting around for at least 2 years until I needed it and of course it did not work(it had worked fine for years before). I cleaned all the dirt and grease/oil off it to look for any identifying marks/labels. Of course nothing to be found except "H50" stamped on the back leg that supports the caster/wheel. I will start taking it apart if needed to id but not sure if it is worth the rebuild and time to do it or off to HF to buy an equivalent size. So here are some pictures I hope will help. YES! Most any older jack will be much, much, much better than the Chinese garbage that they sell today. Order a seal kit for it and rebuild it, then you will know you are good for another 30+ years.

The hydraulic unit looks like an import, probably from the 70s. It does have a big saddle though.

My guess is Japanese or Taiwan, but I don't think it's Chinese junk.

I have exactly the same jack ( an unknown H50). Todate I have not been able to identify the make in order to buy a seal kit for it's plunger. Have you had any luck Hope to hear back from you.

Looks like one I bought back in the late 80's early 90's from a local import wholesaler for $45 cash 3 of us bought them 2 are still working.
If the cylinder is in good shape a local hydraulic shop may be able to help you with the packing rings.

I'm been to two local retail/commercial store specializing in hydraulic equipment and repairs. They both were unable to assist as I did not know the make and model. One tried quite hard but were unable to locate compatible seals in their stock. The other just blew me off.
I only need the "U" seal for the plunger to fix this old beast on a jack. It was my late father's. I'd very much like to repair it.

Probably an older import from Taiwan or Japan, but that doesn't mean it's not a decent jack. Hiball did a helpful tutorial on how to rebuild them: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51105

Hi Hammercom - I know this is old thread but I just picked an identical jack from across the street curbside. I replaced the UCup on the piston, but fubar'd the crush ring that goes around the wiper I replaced. Let me know if you still need this Ucup. If you know where I can get correct crush ring let me know as I currently only have wiper secured with spiral lock ring. Best Mike

Does anyone know what the cone shaped thing is on the backside of reservoir? It has a rubber plug in it. Is this an air release or something? Overload?? Currently working on cleaning up one of these. Thanks for your help guys. Mike

Mike, did you find all the seals, etc to rebuild your jack. I have one like the above picture. My tag is still there saying: 2¼ Ton, Model RFJK0225, Rockford Tool Co, Hillsdale, IL 60162. Made in China. I purchased it late 80's. I did take it to an Amish hydraulic shop and they said it would cost $162 to fix it. Naaaaaaa!

He did let it slip that the rebuild parts were $12

Eaglescout63 - I only rebuilt my pump plunger and release valve. For the pump plunger I sourced a UCup ( around 4-5 bucks) from MFP seals up here in MI. The UCup size I used was 11.2 x 19.2 x 4mm. I found the key to ensuring it doesn't leak by trial and error was to hone the bore using 3/4" brake line flex hone. Also and important is to replace the Teflon 0.050" backup ring. As for the wiper seal you can get like 3 of them for $1.65 from the oring store LLC... shipping super fast. here is part: AN-05-SH 3/4" Rod Wiper Seal (AN-05-SH). I replaced the release valve gear and 2 standard size orings. RR fluid and it pumps vehicle up great! No leaks. Did nothing with main cylinder but added bleeder. BTW mine does say Japan on it.

If you take the seals to a local place, they can cross them to one they can get. You don't have to identify the specific manufacturer for that.

He contacted me to give me scrap metal and lumbar . I kept the jack . The building used to be an old repair shop, back in 70's and 80's, for bikes small engines and for car tires. I have old bicycle fenders handles bars forks etc I kept , and am getting intouch with a company that buys and sells those to customers who rebuild old bikes.
Back to the jack. Its red with big saddle, the handle is white and one single piece handle. It has no stickers on it although it does leak pressure so I need to rebuild it.

Back to the jack. Its was painted red at one time.. The red paint its flaking off with finger nails. The jack is originally orange with a big saddle, the handle is white and one 2 piece white handle. It has no stickers on it although it does leak pressure so I need to rebuild it. It does have a warning sticker on right side , I found under red paint. No other stickers found and no stamp number casted in jack anywhere.
Can anybody help with info on it please. Thanks yaw
