Cleaning up an old GE motor I got with a Vintage CM bandsaw, any one have an idea how to remove the end seal?097b56a9634274f369a0c80aea089823.jpg
I tried lightly prying on it and turning but not wanting to damage it, there is a patent # on it but applies to the material.
Thanks in advice for your input.

You will have to pull the motor apart to get to the back side of the end bell. The rubber cushion is part of the shaft bearing assembly. You may be able to get the cap with the GE logo pushed out from the inside. The rubber may (or may not) be bonded to the steel that is between the cap and the rubber.

The motor is disassembled for cleaning, paint, polish.
A better job can be accomplished with the rubber out of the way.
Thanks.

After work I heated some water and soaked the rubber for a bit, softened it up and popped off rather easily , there was some adhesive but caused no issue. 51f0969cfe5d13fe08bf674907e5a7c3.jpg
It’s a bushing motor and apparently uses mineral wool? As a supply for holding the lubricant.
Applied some heat before trying to remove the caps, not perfect, there is a retaining compound. Haven’t tried the “GE” side yet, less access and more chance of destroying it.
