PORCELAIN LIGHTS QUESTION

I need some help and am wondering if anyone on here has the electrical knowledge to help me. I am attempting to restore/ rewire approx 10 of these old porcelain lights that are probably considered industrial because of their size- 18 hoods. Here is one intact. These are going into my 500 sq ft shed side thats attached to my shop on my 175 acres. Im going for the industrial look to say the least. I have been saving these for years and really want to use them and am assuming if I cant use these parts then I can find updates inners.

The shades unscrew from the shape top base. Underneath is the porcelain white lamp portion. This portion is a lot larger than a standard insert for the bulb.

However the white porcelain fixture can unscrew showing its larger size and inside that portion that unscrews it appears that a standard size bulb can screw in. this fixture had a broken bulb in it. I cant get the small metal inside out so I am GUESSING that the porcelain screw inert portion was parts of the bulb? not sure.

the other pieces are held in by screws and come apart. These have the cloth wire so I am going to rebuild them. My question is does anyone know if or where I can purchase larger bulbs that will screw directly in or where I can find the smaller piece that has these types of bulbs? Anyone have any experience with these?

I cant seem to find a supplier on line and a search of LOWES AND Home Depot show nothing in either store.

Curious if anyone has any ideas on what to use, restoring these or using something totally different?

This is the size compared to a standard size bulb

What you have there is an adapter for a standard base lamp going into a mogul base or E39 base. E39 lamps are higher wattage in general. I don't think you want to use that much electricity. So, you can buy replacement adapters as needed and use standard base lamps either in CFL or LED style.

I just redid a few of these that I got at a swap meet. I bought some "standard" size sockets at the big box store. Or a lighting store will be able to help.

I have redone some as well and used the adapters from mogul to medium. I got them from Menards. Easy fix.

I've got one of those shades and a conduit arm, but cannot find parts to put it together anywhere. Can any of you who have been there done that share the parts needed to make a working light out of a shade?

Poke around Google with "industrial light shade socket" and "industrial light socket" as your terms. That will get you on the path.

be prepared to spend about $20.00 to $25.00 a piece for the socket and fitting.

Search for my post on how I did it. Change the sockets - you said you wanted to change the wire anyway, and surely you won't be using Mogul - based bulbs! HD has a couple of different styles of porcelain sockets that thread onto 3/8 tubing and cost about $6.
