I see old hammers pop up in all kinds of threads.
How about one place for all old hammers and related objects?

I'll start things off with an early J. YERKES. small straight pein hammer.
"J. YERKES PHILA _ SOLID CAST STEEL"
May be the original handle. I forgot to add that picture.
May be for sheet metal or delicate blacksmith work.

I don't know the exact timing of this one.
Possibly 1870's.

A couple of Yerkes & Plumb.
Probably ca. 1869-1886

Photo of handle wedges for previous post included.

The problem with the "Hammer Time!" thread is that it's still located on the General Discussion board. Like so many of our best threads, it was started before the Great Schism of '14. Unlike most of them, it was left up there after the Vintage Board was created. Probably because it wasn't exclusively dedicated to antique or vintage collectibles. When it gets a new post, nobody down here sees it pop up on page 1 up there, unless they're subscribed to it, or they regularly monitor the Vintage Discussion board AND the General Discussion board. (I don't!)

Think the location doesn't matter? In all of 2020 and early 2021, there were maybe 2 pages of posts, total, on that thread, by two or three of the same guys, all mainly Vintage Discussion forum regulars. In that time, we have had dozens of 'Look what I found!' type hammer threads down here, and several new 'Show your hammers!' type threads trying to be started, with the best intentions, seemingly in the absence of one. 'Out of sight, out of mind' is also the reason Outlaw's thread is not in the Sticky Index. If the "Hammer Time!" thread was down here, I bet it would be one of the more active threads on this board.

We also have a whole new Hammer Taxonomy thread started down here, with several pages of posts.

Personally, I'd like to see the "Hammer Time!" thread moved down here. The overwhelming majority of posts are antique or vintage hammers. But I will add a link for it in the Sticky Index either way, and I will add a second link for the Hammer Taxonomy thread.

Thanks Lugz
I looked at the sticky first, then fumbled along as you described. I will probably dupli-post to the Gen Disc Hammer Time and try to remember that it exists.

YERKES was a well known Justice of the Peace in that area, known for marrying people. How he went from hammers to marrying must be a story.
Not to make lite just trivia. Plumb was also a well known brand.

Since I think Outlaw started Hammer Time he might be able to request it to be moved to vintage if you mention it to him.

Otherwise I’ll probably watch this one and post here cause I rarely go to new posts in general tools.

Hi guys.
I've made some tool trades and have been going thru my old tool boxes over this long weekend.
A few Years I bought a bunch of tool from a gut that said they were his grandfather's and mostly 1940s.
This ball peen was old but I never saw any marking on it so I just left it in a box.
Today I looked at it closer and found the stamping. It a plumb but a logo I've never seen. About a 1/2 hour of searching I found that it's probably 20s to mid 30s.
