Old Heller hammer help.

I have this hammer not this exact one, borrowed pic but mine is the same style heller. I'm puzzled by the wedge shape, blacksmith?

In all my years of collecting I can count the straight and cross pein hammers ive seen with one hand.
Unfortunately...

this is my 1st one. Found it at the fleamarket. Looks like all the stuff was from the same person, an old timer for sure. Bought a craftsman box with plomd tools. Everything was painted green.
