I have an old Harbor Freight p/n 1086 gravity feed gun that I can't find any reference to on the HF site. Trying to determine the correct inlet pressure. It looks like a conventional gun so I was thinking to try 40- 45 PSI. Is there an easy way to tell the difference between conventional and HVLP?

Painting really comes down to feel, flow, and a little bit of luck. I think I would start around 35psi then adjust and test because all setups are different, compressor size, paint type. In painting there are no rules, guidelines are laughed upon, it's an art and you are the artist. Close your eyes and let the magic happen.
