Well after looking through at everybody's awesome garages on here and what they look like i figured it was time for me to adjust my own.

Long story short bought the house with the intention of doing some major remolding and the garage has to be the first part you decide to tear into, I thought so anyway. My father and I are doing all the work with occasional help from a buddy here and there.
Anyway here it is I'll try to keep it updated as i go. Happy 4th and thanks for looking.

Ps: Its not perfect by any means, but there's no way I'm paying anybody to do it so it'll have to do. Except for a case or 2 for my helpers.

Here a rough lay out were taking 12' from the original garage and making a laundry room and then adding to the other 12' of the old garage a 16'x36' section.

Ya could of kept the garage useful for a bit longer if you poured the foundation first!...nevermind, as I see you are adding pictures as I write this...
It looks like you're just moving the garage to add the laundry room, and not adding another bay, you might be landlocked on that side.
What are you ceiling height plans? Tall enough for a lift?
By your handle, sounds like you own a Ford too...what are you driving?
Might be nice to add a second story on that side of the building...master suite above the garage? ...I see the stairs in the laundry room.
Love the pictures...looking good.
It's a good time to add a hidy hole in the foundation or floor!

Few more wall shots. Most of the wall concrete was drug from the front to the back until we finally said screw it and filled the backhoe bucket.

Truck didn't like the form trailer either

the trusses will have a room in attic which its where i will live while doing the other part of the house. After the house is done not sure what it will be then.

Also the back 12' of the add on will be my shop area until the house get done and we settle in. Then it'll be time for a barn, hopefully, but who know what will happen by that time.

-Ceilings will be almost 9', but no lift is in the plans.

I do however still have some planning to do on how to lay out the 12'x16' in the back. It'll be my shop area with workbench and extras. I've seen a ton of ideas on here, but always open to new ideas and or ways to store or set up tools and such.

Another load of sand delivered and the hole ate it up like I didn't even add any. So another load is on its way tomorrow. The trusses showed up earlier than expected to so we just set them on some scrap 2x10's and covered em up.

I have the sand over the front wall sloped up and over to back the mixer in to pour back section first to prevent having to haul it to the back especially since we have got almost 3" of rain the last few days. The back will be flat then the other section will be sloped to floor drains.

I can't be anywhere with out my site supervisors following

Well its been a little while since I updated and I wish I could say more had gotten done, but we ran into some interesting mess ups on our part oh well though that's just part of it.

Found out that the old footing we reused off the garage were 2" higher on one side than they were the other which in turn when we added the new wall down the center it now slowly rises from one side to the other. This included alot of extra cutting and measuring to get things back to plumb. That really adds some time also, but our fault for not shooting the height of the existing footing. It happens and a carpenter is only known on how well he covers up his mistakes right.

Now on to the progress pictures.
---Also the man in the pictures is not me its my father who I am very grateful for and I would not be able to do this with out him. Anything and everything I have ever learned about building has been from him and if I ever have a question he's always there to help.---

The new garage floor

Needed supplies

The floor for the new utility room

First tool in the new shop.... Well first tool box

Finishing up walls and header for garage door

Now after the pictures its Q/A Time

1) LED fixtures vs 8' T5? The one light I have in there now is a 8' T5? Difference worth the price?
2) What wall covering should i use for the shop area? I would like it to be different from the drywall on the rest?

Thanks, to all or any input

With the floor drain I put in do I need to saw the concrete anywhere by the drain? I've heard both ways that you should saw out diagonal from drain or just to leave it be.

I dug out around drain so its at least 6" thick by the drain and the floor is 5" thick with 20' sticks of rebar in it. Wasn't sure if you thought that would be enough or not?

Thanks,

Beau

Well figured I would at least post a finished picture since I forgot to while ago. Ended up looking a lot taller in person than on paper.

Well here’s some inside pictures. Nothing crazy just a nice area to tinker until I build a pole barn. Used old cabinets out of old house can’t beat free.

It’s not completely organized yet. We remodeled house quite a bit that is attached to garage and have I have a few things left to finish which is all the stuff scattered around garage.

Thanks for looking
