For most, if not all of those older round head rats, the trick to putting them back together is to have the selector switch in the "neutral" position. Just an FYI...........

Appreciate the heads up! I may open mine up, clean and lube it when I have a chance now that the outside looks good pretty good.

No chance.
Husky at Home Depot was entirely a Stanley relationship. The OP'S ratchet pre-dates Stanley and even the Stanley-made Husky ratchets stamped "USA" (that were probably not) sold via the HD were of a different design.

This,

These were from back during the Husky mail order days, pre-1980s IIRC.

May as well update this thread...the Husky is doing well! Lives in my toolbox that I keep in the Jeep. Haven't used it much, which I guess could be a good thing. :D

For $2, I still think it's a win!

I have several halfer ratchets that are more than 80 years old and work fine.
Some are downright battered including an ancient Husky.

The Snapper was made about '27 and is still kicking better than most ten year old Asain clickers.

Warranty is but a silly idea. I am clearly not the original buyer and have no rights to try.
It just drives prices up on new stuff I might want.

If these have not failed in the two lifetimes of the first two owners and see use even today, they are clearly good tools. I probably will not wear any out either.

Ok, they are not the venerated D80 or Taiwan DuraLeast or whatever the current rage is. Nobody here cares and the seven of the halfers cost less than a used D80.

Warranty? Pshaw young grasshopper. Just use them up. That is what they were made for.

I have several of the Husky ratchets from the 1960's and 1970's when you could get small sets with either Top Value or Green stamps from the grocery store.
