I’m sure some of you have owned or sold an old shop locker before and might can shed a little light. I want to buy this from my neighbor for my garage, I love the older stuff for obvious reasons. You won’t much in my garage that was made after 1970 unless it’s something I use on the jobsite. This is a Lyon locker/cabinet, I’ll add interior pics later but it has a steel divider that runs down the middle, a steel shelf at the top of said divider about 8” from top of cabinet and has a steel shelf on one side of the divider half way down so it’ll be perfect for tool storage. Only minor surface rust on the bottom pan that’ll easily knock off with a wire bit. Everything is pretty straight and sturdy. What would you offer for it? I looked at sold Lyon stuff on eBay that sold this last year but nothing of this sizeIMG_8286.jpeg

Do not know of that brand. But now something like that with lower quality will be around $500.00

What would you offer for it?
I would ask the neighbor to set a price. Everyone has a different perspective. What you believe is a fair offer may offend him. If he sets the price, there won't be any hard feelings.

Wow, I just noticed this is post 1911 for me. What a great year thanks to John Browning!

Check your local Craigslist to see what comparable cabinets are selling for in your area. I checked mine, and saw similar cabinets selling for anywhere from $30 to $125.

^^^^ I agree, around me the price for those types of cabinets is low. Quite common on CL and various auctions

If you are buying check those “tin wonder” cabinets sold by Office Depot or other Big Box stores and show. how cheap they are.

If you are selling point out that your older lockers were built to a quality rather than a price.

That is a lower end Lyon cabinet. It looks like it's about 18ga steel - maybe 20ga. I would say about $100.00 -$125.00. I have three Lyon industrial cabinets that are fully welded and 14ga. Mine hold 1450lbs a shelf while the type you are looking at holds 75lbs a shelf.

Recent industrial auction had pairs of good quality tennsco metal cabinets go for $90-$120 per (2) cabinets 36" x 18" x 72". Think new they go for $400-$500 each. But used see these type of metal cabinets go for under $100 all the time. If you can get them for $50-$60 consider that a good deal when empty. Lotta times they throw in contents included to just get rid of all the misc parts or office supplies they collect and that make prices bounce higher....or not. They just want stuff gone.
