Old IR Compressor

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has any info on this old compressor I just purchased. Takes awhile to build up pressure and its in dire need of a new air filter.

I can't seem to find any replacement parts at all.

Just had that problem with my old 1959 curtis,no parts available....problem was in the head,all gunked up....pulled it apart and soaked and cleaned it.Made a new head gasket and now she runs like a champ !!!!

You can probably get one from an auto-parts store. That is not an OEM style filter on there...

If you want something more proper and current, check the Solberg air filters / silencers. You can size it on their website and then order them through Amazon.

Ingersoll Rand you will get all the parts for that compressor pump no problem all the info for spare parts is on that label i.e type T30 bore size's etc i have a 1945 model and all the parts for the pump are still available as i have checked with IR dealer in the UK being in the States you will be even better provided for as in retailers/outlets you may find the reed valves/fingers between the cylinder heads & barrels are gummed up causing poor filling of the tank (easy job) this is all mine needed inc an oil change and its been in daily use since, may be worth checking the internals of the tank for severe corrosion as its an oldee but those early tanks are normally heavy gauge so chances are you may be fine (worth checking) nice find though.

That is a Model 253 compressor with a 5HP motor mounted on an 80-gallon horizontal tank. It has a 5 and a 3-inch cylinder with a 3.5" stroke. That is a great compressor, and was made in Painted Post, NY before IR moved Type30 bare compressor manufacturing to India.

Go to www.ingersollrandproducts.com and click on "contact us" to find your local distributor. You can still get parts for that compressor.

I'd recommend rebuilding the valves and see if that helps with the pump-up time. If that doesn't work then put in a ring kit.
