Well it appears I may be slipping to the dark side as I now have a new collection if three old jacks is a collection. I am picking this up in excellent working condition in about an hour. Unfortunately all I know at this point is its supposed to be a old Walker or a Black hawk. I don't care I just love the wheels. I will report more when I get it back home. I don't know if all my old vises are going to like this new distraction.
Maybe some of you more serious collectors will recognize the photos and share as I haven't done to much investigating yet.
Wes

Weaver is the OEM.

Thanks to Hiball I quickly found a Weaver History Museum site (very cool check it out http://www.castleequipment.com/Museum/jacks_weaver_history.htm) and it appears I have a 2 ton WA72B. I can see some green paint under the red so I assume that was probably the original color. At 51 inches it may be longer than my biggest vice but it's not as heavy at 136 lbs. By 1952 catologs it looks like the cool wheel covers we gone.

Cost is kinda difficult as I got it as part of a package deal. I got an old Winchester 22 rifle (model 74 LR model) and the jack for $150 I know more about guns than the Jack at this point but I think the gun was worth the price of admission:thumbup:

Advertisement from 1938 was on Castle Equipments museum site and borrowed for info on here only.

Good hunting guys!

WOW, you really **** So basically you bought a super cheap 74 and got a free jack.

I have been looking for a nice old jack like that for a while. Great deal. Super jealous over here.

What condition is the 74 in (yes I am a RF aficionado, you on RF.com?) although I prefer their old bolt rifles, I can appreciate those old auto loaders. I just wish all the d@mn hoarders / nuts would stop buying up all the bulk 22 ammo so I could get back out and use them:mad: I can't find any 22 on the shelves around here.

Thanks.

Yes the 22 situation is bad here too. I do rf central some used to be into rf benchrest shooting so I have enough:bowdown:

I wish people would quit hoarding the old Jacks and vises:D

Well I only had to go into CA, I was down trolling around Disneyland looking for vises while bigcaddy is on vacation:D

Not really but I think it might be a good rumor for you to start over on the vise thread.

CCLFN,

No the paint was to honor my Father. He always painted things green and orange. I really don't know much about Weaver jacks, but Castle Equipment said the side levers on the 2 ton, were a rare option. I'm looking for the 4 ton!
