Hey guys amd gals,
We bought a Kurt D60-1 for the shop in well used condition and cleaned it up. It was missing the jaws and handle when we got it, and it was a mess. We disassembled it, cleaned it up with compressed air and a brush, removed a few buwws, then sanded and painted it. We reassembled it with good quality bearing grease and it slides like new.
We just thought some of you might wat to see the purdy vise now that it is a little more shined up. This might not be restoration to some of you, but it fit the bill and time we had, and didn't require a surface grinder or any welding. We would be afraid to warp it, so the crash marks stay!
We called Kurt on the phone, and they didn't know when it was made. The handle is a 6061 AL cheapie from Ebay, and the Jaws are made by a local guy here in Portland and they are hardened steel.
