Anybody every see or use a lead spray gun ? Hep ! They made then Brent's and Albertson. I have both and have used the brent's several times. You would have your metal area sandblasted or bare metal ready. The lead spray gun had a small molten box to hold the melted lead. Then the gun was also connected to compressed air. The area where you are going to lead was wiped down with a special flex that when wiped on the metal turned it to a copper color. Then carefully and well protected you would wipe mercury on the area which would then tin it. You were then ready to place the lead on. You would spray the melted lead on like spray painting. You would sparay until you placed enough lead in the area. You would let it cool and then you could start filing and sanding it to a finish and thn primer it. Yes using the mercury is a little dangerous but at no time do you touch it while using it.
