Old machinist tools?

My father inherited some old tools in the '60s from a machinist who lived next door to us. There's a bunch of morse taper drill bits, calipers, taps, etc, but there are also several odd looking tools that look like they're handmade from old files (see pics below). One is labelled "Kraeuter 1202-13" and I was able to identify it as a "bearing scraper", so I'm assuming the other things may have been made to serve a similar purpose.

These tools have been in our basement since I was a kid and I never knew what they were for. My father passed away a couple years ago and now I'm trying to decide what to do with them.

Would these things be of any use or value to anyone?

I'm no where near certain but most appear to be scrapers to one extent. I'm sure some guy over the age of almost 17 will give better insight

Yes they are bearing scrapers. It was common to make them from files. Their use has greatly diminished due to the improvements in bearings that replace the old babbitt bearings. Some people will still use them and find other uses. Cast surface plates can be trued with them. Unfortunately there is more a surplus of them than there is a demand so it will be hard to get more than a few bucks ea. for them.

Might put them on owwm.org as a lot of those guys rebuild machines with babbitted bearings.

Thanks for the info. At least I know what they are now. I've been wondering for almost 50 years. I'm not too worried about money, I just didn't want to throw them out and didn't know if anyone would be interested in them. I see quite a few vintage bearing scrapers on eBay, so maybe I'll try that and see if I can find them a new home.

By the way, I like your site Ken. All these old tools used to be in a small wooden chest, but it seems to have gone missing over the years. I sure wish we still had that.

My neighbor gave me a wood toolchest full of old machinist tools that came from an elderly friend of his. It's crazy how much I've used the mics, calipers, rules and bits that came in it over the past several years. When I got it I had to look up what most of the stuff was.
