Also, I wouldn't coat it or media blast it as that would destroy the patina and the vintage-ness of it. I think it's perfect as is and really like the idea of setting it into concrete outside a man-door to the garage, FWIW.

I agree (or even in the shop) ... and I am a chick :p ! actually that would be pretty cool looking in the shop, not to mention an awesome conversation piece. Would be sick if you could figure out a way to turn it into an in-ground safe of some sort.

I wouldn't put that in a house unless it fit the construction, but if you had a house that was modern had some concrete and metal already used in the construction that sort of thing could be really fun... maybe down a long hallway or something.

You guys keep getting cool stuff like this or bowling ally lanes to make stuff from, maybe I should watch CL more or something...

That makes sense. In that case make sure that it is not used outdoors! You dont want a city worker driving by and seeing that manhole cover and sending the cops after you thinking you pried it up and stole it.

Right. Plus it might rust if I put it outside:rolleyes:

Very cool! Too bad that one little piece is broken off the edge there near the pry-up opening, but it would still be fun to customize. Hanging it up to cure in my oven would be interesting though ... probably three times my weight ... but I'd still try. :D

Embed it into your bar top and cover it with a couple hundred coats of polyurethane.

I think the broken piece was why they were disposing of it. I need to weigh it, ..... it's freakin' heavy.

What ever you do with it, DO NOT try to scrap it.

Scrap yards know what they are and who is and is not suppose to have access to bring those in. You would have a lot of explaining to do...

I know it's state the obvious but some dumbasses here in Fayetteville went on a spree and grabbed a bunch of those and the street gutter grates, police were called as soon as those guys pulled on the scales...
