This box is for sale near me, I checked it out and he wants $150 for it with the tools, the tools are all no name as far as I could tell. He told me to stop by tomorrow and he may make me a deal on just the box, what would be a good price for this? Also anyone know the vintage of this? Thanks.

It's really a side cabinet, a large one at that. Something like 20" wide x 18" deep. It will be stamped on the back or side with the model and date. As for price, hard to tell without inspection. I'd say $100 or less as is. Depending on in person condition, and what all tools are included. Check over the slides and slide channels real well. Make sure neither is actually worn down to the point of paper thin metal. Flip it over and check the bottom to see if it is rust out. There are alot of coverups in that photo to really evaluate the condition IMHO. It's from the 70's to 80's.

Thanks. I wasn't able to give it a thorough look over since I was carrying my 6 month old daughter at the time. I briefly looked at the back but didn't see any code, then again I couldn't look easily. The guy said it was his dads and he claimed it was from the 50's or earlier, but the eagle on the badge made me think it may be newer. I may check it out better tomorrow when I am without the kid.

Great box, missing the roller handle. I picked up the exact one up for $40 witg A Cman top box. Great box $100 tops if you are looking for a roller.

Definitely looks like a side box. Way too small to be a regular box. As for '50s or older  looks like mid '70s to mid '80s.

Looks like there may be some decent stuff, toolwise. I'd probably top out around $100, maybe $125 if there was some really good stuff in it. But remember to inspect it closely like zkling said.

I don't think you understand this box. That is a side cabinet designed to hang on a main box. Typically they are 15" wide this one is around 20". It never was designed to have wheels, a side handle or a top box.

Mac and matco stamped numbers of that vintage can be a real pain to see. Definitely not 50's. Maybe, and I mean maybe very late 60's to very late 80's. But more likely 70's to 80's. I'll say 1976 just for the heck of it. I know Lookin' will love this comment, but don't forget the HF side box is right under $200 OTD, very well built, ball bearing slides and 7 drawers. It puts many of older truck brand side boxes to shame. And yes I'm saying this full well owing/owned multiple older truck brand side boxes. It is a comment based on first hand experience. Take of it what you will

I will post pictures of the box with measurements, but I think you are right. I saw this thread on my phone and the box looked bigger.
