Does anyone have a catalog page or a list with pictures of all of the Wright ratchets that were available through Matco back in the 80s/90s?
I’m wondering if you could get the mini 1/4” size handle with 3/8” anvil style wright ratchet as a Matco back then.

Here’s the current Wright ratchet for reference.

I have a 1/4" Matco round head that looks like that from the early/mid 80's, probably the worst professional ratchet I ever bought. I was repaired twice replaced twice and has been broken for 30 years now....................I gave up just don't have he heart to toss it.

I have a small MATCO 1/4" like that. The one with the comfort handle. Man would I like to get all of that style of MATCO's. But even used they are a bit pricey.

It’s a shame really, because a lot of them probably got tossed in the scrap pile getting warrantied through Matco trucks After they stopped using Wright as their ratchet supplier. I’m sure there were very few people if any at all, that knew they could get ahead repair kit through wright

Does wright have issues with 1/4" ratchets?. I have several long handled 3/8 1/2 wrights and consider them to be the strongest ratchets made except the current dual 80/72 snapon ratchets. I have put insane torque on my 3450 every day for the last 6 or 7 years without being repaired.

Matco BR5. See photos in quote below.

I received this yesterday. An Ebay "buy it now" that was too good to pass up. It's a Matco branded BR5. 1/4" ratchet with a 3/8" head. I couldn't find any info online. A friend on here was kind enough to point out it looked like a Wright made piece, and my Google-Fu turned it up as a Wright 3430. About 4 3/4" long.

It was dry as a bone when I got it and it still had a nice action. It is now lubed up and ready to go. Feels very similar to my SKs, which makes sense since the mechanisms are very similar. Overall I like it a lot so far.

Size comparison shot:
Snap On FH80 / GW 3/8" stubby / Matco BR5 / SK 1/4" 40970

Rumor was that the Wright repair kits do not fit in the MATCO handles. Anyone have first hand experience?

There was a post about this years ago I seem to recall reading, that there were minor differences in the 2. I love Wright tools but they don't offer a long 1/4" ratchet; there was a Matco variant. They aren't common but pop up on eBay from time to time, and always got bid up fairly high back when i was looking for one.

This is to anyone, was the contour grip first available on just Matco or did Wright make them too? Seems like all the Wright contour grips i see are new-ish.

The answer to your 2nd question is YES. BR5 is the Matco part # I have a Matco rebuild kit for a Matco BR5 at work that fits the 1/4 Matco body and the Wright body. The Wright kit will not fit and function in the Matco body.
The Matco anvil is a little longer .The Wright appears to fit until you put the ring on and then it binds up.
I hope this helps !

What’s the part number on those? I can’t make it out in the picture

AR4. I think I recall there being a long handle version as well as someone earlier posted. That'd be nice, too.

My comment was my experience with Wright and Matco 1/4 drive ratchets.
Good to knowthe 3/8 Wright worked in the Matco!

The body and the anvil on the Matco was slightly taller than the Wright .
Everything was great until the retaining ring went on and then the ratchet bound up.
Take the ring off and everything works great !
