What is a fair price for these?

They are a little bit of a drive from me and my shop isnt even built yet so they would have to junk up my yard for about a month.

The $100 is what I was thinking too with the drive. The guy wants $300.

I think they would look cool after being sanded and painted of course.

Those are SO COOL . . . Go GET THEM before someone snatches them out from under your very nose.

I mean re-arrange your X-mas plans and Drive there in your underwear !!

Those could easily sell for $50 to $60 . . EACH separate cabinet !!

Offer $150 for the whole lot, and bring 6 pack beer, X-mas cookies, etc !!

Good luck.

EDIT: Typing at same time . . LOL. Negotiate him down to $175 or $200 which is still a good deal. If you don't use sink or corner cabs, you could sell those to lower your net cost.

^ ^ ^ They won't be heavy . . . just a little bulky.

Drive a car with lightweight utility mesh trailer. Bring lots of blankets and ratchet straps so you can secure them without scratching them up. Some pieces of cardboard might also be handy to put under and between cabinets.

Good luck. Hope you get them.

The only option I have for the drive is my 350 drw. My Nissan 4 cyl P/U beater truck wont make the trip and my wifes car doesn't have a hitch. I have a 16' trailer that I would have to take too as I do not think they all would fit in the bed of the truck.

If the guy emails me back tomorrow I am sure him and I can work something out for me to get them.

I am already envisioning how they will look Craftsman red with the chrome polished against the grey epoxy floor

What kind of sale?? I have seen this type sink thrown out around here. I do think they are cool though.

I hope to find out in the morning if I get them. I am planning on the drive tomorrow if the guy is available and we can make a deal.

I'll post pics if I get them.

I would not even considered cabinets like these if it were not for this site and seen how good these look restored in a shop.

Around Seattle, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought 2K.

There is a market for them.

What are they worth to you? You couldn't build them yourself for that. Consider the gas as part of the price. Around here I suspect they would not have lasted more than a couple hours at that price. Anything tagged 'mid century' is commonly known to be lined with either gold or asbestos. Most see gold. They should clean up really nice. Craftsman red.

It all depends on the quality. There are some thick strong steel ones that are desirable and then there are the cheap tinny ones that are ok but not worth the trip.
I'd get better pics from the guy.

Careful, though. There were cheap *** flimsy metal kitchens, and brawny, quality Youngstown ones. Frlm the pics those look good, but just sayin'.

The corner will work in the shop. Start building the shop in a few weeks when the materials are delivered.

still have not heard back from the guy as of yet, maybe someone on here seen the ad and got em out from under me. If he gets back with me early enough I am heading that way today though

The asking price isn't bad, as has been mentioned before prices vary greatly on these. So many cool possibilities with them beyond just shop cabinets.

Go get 'em! If they were well built new, and are not rotted out at the floor, they are worth it. You will never regret having them.

These are a few of the ones out of my Grandmas old house. A quick cleanup, remove and polish the chrome handles, cover the exteriors in an off white contact paper (vinyl), and been in service for 10+ years now. I love 'em.

Unlike today's **** that is sold, stuff back in the day was well made. I'll bet those 1950's cabinets are better built than Husky toolboxes at HD !! :eyecrazy:

OP . . hope you got your underwear on and running out door for roadtrip ! :D
Even $300 is a good deal . . .
. . . have the Seller "sweeten the pot" by throwing in other stuff for the $300 deal.

DynoDave . . . sweet looking shop !! LOVE it.

Still no word from the guy. I found another set too but not as many pieces so I am holding out for this one.

I have a few pre 60's metal upper cabinets and they are cheap and thin. So just because they are old, doesn't make them good.
I've gotten others and they were industrial like. Those got left at an old place, the cheap ones I still have.

I threw away a couple of those 6 years ago! Of course, they were rotted away and the majority of the kitchen had been removed before the house was even listed. Actually, I cut them down to better fit in the dumpster. Who knew I was tossing money out the door?

I was unable to post all pics in the same post for some reason.

They are on the way home, will need a lil more prep work before painting than I thought but it will be a fun project.

got em for $200, still cheaper than building a set after paint etc and I think they will look cool

Well done. That's a great price for something that's so rare, you can't even make a modern day comparison. Even after a full on professional restoration, I think you great deal.
