I have an old Milwaukee 5" angle grinder. Model # 6141

SER. 763 32056

I've had it forever. When I got it from my dad it has a big 7? inch hubbed cutting wheel on it. The wheel was chipped and worn and the guard did nothing to protect the user. I have a lot of memories of my dad cutting with this thing. Scary.

Anyways... I wanted to start using it. I bought a flange nut kit, and some 5" cut off wheels, and flap discs.

Then I realized I also needed the flange. I went to ebay and ordered what looked like the correct one. It wasn't. Didn't fit the spindle or the hole in the cut off wheels.

I looked on home depots site and they list one but says its discontinued and I'm not even sure its the right one.

The grinder has a double d shaped spindle. Most of the flanges I see online are round and don't seem to have that double d shape indent or whatever.

Anyone know what flange I need and where to get one?

Maybe a newbie question? I just hate for the grinder to sit in the drawer like its done for the last decade and a half since I've owned it.

Take that grinder to the local hardware store--and compare the arbor to those on newer grinders.. That "double-D" looks similar to my Dewalt for the bottom arbor "bushing"..
Plus--It shouldn't be too hard to make a bushing from a really thick washer with a smaller center hole (Or correct size if you have a welder).. Then just get busy with a file and die grinder to make the correct shape for the arbor..

Try calling this company. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/power-tool-parts.html I was looking for a Metabo part, nothing expensive, but I thought it had been discontinued. They put me on hold, called Metabo, and found out it was still available. Price was higher than some other places, but I'd say the service was top notch and worth the higher price. I would definitely purchase from them again. They might be able to help you. Also, some flanges may be designed to use with one side or the other facing the cut off, or grinding wheel, depending on the size of the bore. The spindle on your Milwaukee looks similar to the spindle on a Fein WSG 12-70 E grinder I have. These are some pictures of the Fein spindle and flange set.

Ya, I might have to make one or try to find a current model grinder with the same part. I have a new dewalt 4.5" grinder and the shape is right, but the double d shape is smaller and won't fit the milwaukee.

Cool. I'll try them. Thanks!
