Howdy,
I found this vise at an estate sale this weekend. I just liked the styling and the quick release swivel. I'd not heard of the brand before and having a hard time finding something that compares. Found a hint of maybe 1920's. Maybe if I was really good at searching this great group I might find something but I haven't figured that out yet.
So, anyone here have any information or examples of "Modern Vise" 756(maybe).

Contemplating refurbing it.

Buddy, got one of those just last week from EBay, but not exactly like yours.---This one is 15 lbs., pretty hefty for a table vise.---Is also a #756, and has the quick release handle which is what caught my eye also.---Haven't done anything to mine, just like it came.---3" smooth jaws.

Obviously they were made in Milwaukee Wisconsin.---Also, after you look at these pics, look on page 433, post 8641, and see how much your vise looks like a Luther.---Probably were all made by the same Co.

As for date, your guess is as good as mine.

Mine is a Model M743, but has a different look to yours. The one you have looks more like my Luther #93.

Good stuff! Thanks! After va.grouseman's first reply I found this 1925 ad. While mine doesn't have the bold cast in name I really like the decal in the indented piece. As is the vise is pretty worthless for use. Very stiff. Think I'll clean up the working parts and it should function well. Then I'll decide if that's good enough or if a full strip and paint... of course I'll have to protect the decal.

One of these days I might get a big ol honkin Parker or the like but for now the smaller vises are in my reach and pretty fun.
