Old Press Ideas

I ran into this old screw press and I'm debating on whether I should turn it into an actual shop press.
The thing is pretty big and from what I can find it was originally for pressing electric motors.

They want $125 for it and TBH I think it may be a good shop press but I'm not sure whether to spend my money on this or just get a hydraulic press.
What do you guys think?

This might be a fun and interesting restoration project. Beyond this, I think the throat is not deep enough to be of any real value in a shop. like mine. I think this press might be a good candidate for pressing lugs on heavy cable. I think it would make a good dust catcher and conversation starter.

I think you'd be better of spending that money on a proper press. not sure that you would be happy with that . the rotational motion could be a major hindrance in lots of cases

I’ve got a little one ton Dake arbor press, and I think that would be a step down from mine.
