My sister-in-law bought a Rust-Oleum epoxy shield kit when she moved into her condo. She was unable to put it down by herself as it looked like the floor needed to be ground down. Several years later, my wife decided that she wanted to move back to FL to be closer to family (both hers and mine).
Now that we are kinda local, I was thinking about doing the application to my SIL's garage floor. E-mailed the manufacturer and they said that the kit is from 2006 and has a 5yr shelf life. Nothing has been opened, just the box to get the lot number.
I've done Armorpoxy to my current house as well as my previous house, both are 3 car garages. No problems with application except on the current house where the epoxy kicked off on me and I had to hurry. I think the sun had gone down and warmed that part of the floor.
My questions are:
1. How stringent are these shelf life times? Is it like canned goods where you can eat them years past the "best by" date?
2. Worst case: Say I go ahead and apply it and it doesn't cure up, how do I remove it so that I can start again with a fresh kit?
Thanks in advance.
