I had these for generations. The small one is called Cinder glasses to protect the guy shooting the cannon from sparks during the civil war. And RR engineers shoveling coal.

The second larger one is Bakelite from the farm, grinding and more. I have the darker lens somewhere.DSCF5455.JPGDSCF5456.JPGDSCF5457.JPG

Here's a couple oldies. Came with old toolbox and kept em just cuz they looked cool20230403_100226.jpg
The top pair looks the same as we used to/still use for Oxy/Acetylene gas welding. They were supplied with 6 interchangeable glass 'lenses' in a metal box:- 2x light green for gas welding, 2x dark green for gas cutting and 2x clear to install in front of the green lenses to protect them from welding sparks. Those lenses not being used fitted into a small compartment inside the box for protection. The rings securing the lenses to the frame just unscrew to change the lenses. Sometimes the green lenses were plastic instead of glass, so needed the clear glass installed in front to protect them. I've seen even older version that came with dark blue lenses. The vents on each side were to reduce misting up of the lenses.

The lower glasses remind me of what the early motorcyclists might have worn, going by some pictures I've seen. Or possibly early Aviators?

We have a longish thread going for the last five yesrs or so on vintage safety glasses. This discussion would be a great addition to that thread.
