Old School Building Skills

These guys are in Nova Scotia, near the Lunenburg area, known for traditional wood ship building. This is a house, not a garage, but it sure would be nice to get them to build a shop this way. Just thought it was interesting how they've built everything so solid. Especially the corners.

Much more strength in triangulation.
I've seen many old buildings with board siding rack, that should eliminate it.

What's the purpose in them not using air nailers?

Yes, well meets the ASTM for hot dipped galvanized to be used for PT wood anyway. About double the cost of the equal vinyl coated nail.

I used #12 hot dipped in my nailer, bought at Lowes - box of 1000. IMHO, air nailer saves time and arm muscles. I set mine to try for most flush or a little shy. The ones that go shy go home with a couple of taps from a 20 oz framing hammer.

Zeke is right , that was an awful lot of attic space lost.

Yep I was a little disappointed to not see conventional framing also.
