Back in the eighties I remember that you had to pay about a dollar a piece when you bought a Craftsman set. a lot of money back then, but well worth it.

I had my start with a Craftsman "kit" somewhere around 1980. I still have everything from that today plus whole lot more :D

For some reason I keep thinking it was like 270pcs or something similar.

Looks similar to my set I bought in 1980? I think mine was only 200 pieces,, no nut drivers or small things,,,I know I paid $89 and it was on sale at 50% off
Hope the collector enjoys it,,,I won't bid!

The black selectors on the ratchets are a dead give away to late 90's or early 00's+ Before that they had large chrome selectors.

Another give away, aside from the ratchet design, is that there are languages other than English on the box. This took place in the late 1990s/early 2000s.

This set is insanely overpriced but you know the old saying about a fool and his money. I would not be surprised if someone doles out the cash.

This set is likely less than 10 years old. It still has a page on Searsoutlet.com, looks like retail was $799.99. Price is high, but not too far from unreasonable. USA Craftsman stuff is selling for stupid prices on Ebay lately.

Good eye! I looked a little closer and the set offered is SAE and Metric,,my set was SAE only and toggles on my ratchets are chrome. Thats a pile of money!
