It was in my basement not sure if it's a water pump? It has a plug to plug into the wall(old cloth covered wire) looks neat. Just not sure if it's worth saving. Haven't checked if it works (yet) any insight guys?

Put a pair of pliers on the shaft and see if its free before going through the trouble of a rewire. Those pumps are usually only taken out of service for 1 reason........failure.

Might have been used as a sump pump at some time. We had one when I was a kid that we has to plug in manually when our basement was flooding, we took it out of service when we put in a proper sump pump with a float.
