Hi All,

I've had this old drill and press for years. Both are made by Signal. The drill is a 1/2" drill and still works great. The press is in good shape but it is missing parts at the base. Does anyone have any info about this setup? Especially in regard to what is missing at the press base. It's got to be some kind of hold down clamp I gather ? ?

Heres what it looks like

The tag on the drill... Model # is OB-5

Any info about this set up is appreciated... Oh, not for sale, BTW.

Thanks

I don't really see anything missing. you want to have either a sacrificial piece of wood on the base while drilling (so you are not tearing up the base) or use a drill press vise to hold what is being drilled.

As top heavy as that is, I'd make sure you bolt it to the bench you mount it to, but it looks basically ready to use...

Thanks guys.. How old do you think this stuff is? Is it safe to say the the start of the serial numbers reveal the year made? The serial # on drill for example starts with H47, could that stand for 1947? From what little I could find on line, Signal changed it's name in 1952.
