I have an old SK socket set that was my father's. 1/2 inch drive. Does anyone know how may sockets were included in the set? I use it all the time and it is one tough set. If this wont loosen the nut its not coming off! The SK number on the handle is 42470. I think from reading posts that it was made between 1945-1947. Any input would be appreciated. Just curious!

That's a nice set. I also grew up with a dad that had a SK socket set, probably from the late 50's or early 60's. It was a 1/2 " set, not as comprehensive as the set you have. In fact, I have mostly Craftsman socket sets, but I finally ordered a couple of SK ratchets about 10 years ago because I missed the round handles! Much more comfortable to use! I always figured that is how Craftsman limited the torque you could apply to their tools - create and "un-ergonomic" design.
Luckily my dad is still around to use his set, I'll have to see if I can get a picture of it, it will be a couple months though.

I picked this set up a while back, mostly SK, some SK Wayne and two sockets that are other name brand.
