Hey all, I have this old SK tool set my great uncle left me years ago. Posting basically for historical fun/if its worth anything. The ratchet actually works really well. Everything appears to be in good shape and i think its all there. The box is a little worse for wear but thats to be expected.

Anyone know what year abouts this would be from? didn't see anything on the box.

Late 1930's, for sure. The decal is pre-war and WWII up to 1946 (SK went to the metal decal with rivets in 1947), but that rocker style ratchet is older than 40's. Also, you see that funky looking socket with a square thin piece of steel with tabs or notches in the corners? In the compartment with the uni joint? That is a valve lapping adaptor. Also older than 40's. It fits multiple valves depending on which end you use. You'd put those little tabs in the little valve seats on either side of the valve, add your lapping/grinding compound, insert the drive end on the male drive stud of a speed wrench and turn back and forth.

No problem. Hard to tell from the angle, but the third piece inside the same compartment as the valve grinding adapter and the uni joint looks like it might could be a drag link bit. Or not. Maybe too small. Post a pic of just that piece, if you can. Interesting that there is no hinge handle (colloquially, "breaker bar"), but two speeders, a standard and a short brace type. The finish looks to be plain steel, so economy line. Double-square sockets for square head bolts and drain plugs. It's a terrific set.

There is a set like yours on Ebay that has been there for months and the guy is trying to get 300.00 or more. I think the real value would be from 100-175.

Very cool. I’ve been “collecting” SK stuff lately. I’m finding a lot at the flea market near me for cheap.

Before anyone asks...

The difference between a 12 point socket and a 8 point socket is 4 points.

And then the screw driver difference thing, and road rage drama thread. Bunch of girls at a slumber party. Geeze. Anyways, as an SK guy, that's super cool.
