Had to save this Skilsaw model 606 electric chainsaw. I’m a sucker for any cool old full metal electric tool, but this is frightening.
Any others out there? Age? I’ll need to find some tinkering time to open her up and make sure she is free before plugging in?

That's sweet in a scary way!

All I ever do before firing up an old electric tool is to check for shorts to ground/case. Looks like someone already updated yours to 3-prong. From the looks of the gearbox, it might not be possible to move the chain by hand, but I'd give it a try.

I'd also put a much longer cord on that. At least 25 feet. I use 12 AWG extension cords for re-cording old tools.

I have one of these also. Used it to cut logs without bothering the neighbors when I lived in town. Awesome power but I put a 16” bar on since it didn’t come with a bar when I got it. My armature was pretty worn so I had it turned and put new brushes in (circa 1995)
