I saw this on Craigslist today and was wondering whether any of you had opinions on this:

There isn't really much information given. It seems odd that there would be two "Snapon" tags next to each other. Do you think that this is real, or could it be just some other box that someone added tags to?

What do you think it is worth? The outside looks banged up, but the drawers look clean.

Wow, that looks to be in pretty good condition, considering.

It is real. It is a 1940's K300 "Rolla-bench". Sanp on did put two emblmes on those boxes, why; I couldn't tell you. As far as value... That probably isn't out of line honesty for someone that collects or has been looking for that model. It is pretty rare, and very old. As for a working box you could definitely get more storage for your money, but the cool factor would never compare to the K300.

Someday if I find one cheap I wouldn't mind owning one, something about the roll down door is really slick IMHO. For me, at this point in time I would probably top out at $200.

EDIT. After a second look, it appears that the drawers have been repainted, so for a collector that would decrease value. I believe the drawer pulls should be chrome and not painted. Not positive on that though. I think in the early 50's they did paint the handles.

His price is a little step, but it is old, late 40's to early 50's and looks clean. I paid $250 for a 63 that has 50 years worth of shop patina, but completely functional. It comes down to how much you want it.

Nope. I emailed but never got a response.

Probably some collector / person looking for that specific box. It did look really nice.

Not to steal the OP's thunder. I don't think that is a bad price, but not great either; more like semi fair.

Would have to see it in person. It looks straight, but some of those rust spots look pretty deep. Not to mention the NUMEROUS holes drilled in the side of the box. They are solid boxes, but kinda small overall capacity IMHO. Personally I wouldn't pay that, and instead would wait for a better deal to come along.

Just a quick look at your CL shows someone else has the same box in better condition for $200. That is probably where the seller you pictured got the $100 price.
