That is a second generation red cap. The first ones had outriggers for the feet then casters. Other then that the design didn't change a lot threw out the 40's. Cool box, get it if the guy isn't nuts on the price.

The guy is nuts. I want one as much as the next guy, but nowadays, they are more of a conversation piece then a functioning tool box. They are not very big, maybe 4' tall at the most.

Man, I REALLY need to get the restoration on mine under way!

It's not a "functional" box like most, but it'll be perfect for holding those infrequently-used items, like electrical tools, upholstery stuff, etc. etc.

There was a guy that had one at the brimfield flee market last year. I musta spotted that thing at a 1/2 mile away as he was loading it up in his van. He wasn't selling it.

If you're looking for a good, used functional box for your home garage I agree. Way to much. If you're looking for a real vintage box and you're into that era of vehicles and want a bit of a show peice to restore I'm not so sure. It's a limited market but he may get his asking price.
