Old Snap On center box section

I bought a center section from an old snap On toolbox yesterday for $10 bucks. It's old and beat up but perfect for my basement for the couple few tools I keep in my house and not in my garage.
2 questions....any idea on the age of this and does anyone know how to remove the drawers. I hear stuff rattling back there and can't get the drawers out.

Snap on had pieces of thin flat spring steel slightly bent on the end to get those drawers out. Pull the drawer out all the way, push back in slightly, insert the tool between the drawer and the slide, The drawer has a stop and the slide has a piece of spring steel or a built in stop. The tool acts as a ramp between the 2 stops so they can pass one another.
Any flexible flat steel, about a 1/4" wide will do, about 4" long

Snap on used that logo from late 50s to almost 1970. Should be a date stamping on back.

Late 50s early 60s. There is a date stamped in the back center of the box closer to the bottom.

If you don't want to pay 6 bucks to Snap on for the drawer removal tool, you can make one out of an old hacksaw blade. There are a few youtube videos that show you how.

Semi truck wiper blades have a flat strip of spring steel on both sides of the rubber blade that will work also.

I made one from an old gm prom chip removal tool. I have also used hacksaw blades

Thass an uuugggly baby, but somewhat rare.

Let us know what's back there. i've found tools worth more than what I paid for the box.

Cool. Thanks guys! I don't have any plans or time to restore this. Just simply powerwashed it and greased the slides. For what it is and to just sit in my basement for odds n ends I like the original patina.
I'll post if I find anything interesting inside when I pull the drawer

Funny you should mention that, just bought a craftsman 3 drawer stacker, dirty, had roofing shingles down as pads in the drawers but there was a 14k gold wedding band in the top drawer stuck behind the shingle. it paid for the box...!

Dang! About the most interesting thing I found in a used toolbox was a deposition of the previous owner in a divorce case. He had been helping a woman cheat on her husband and was being questioned about it. Looked like it had been stuffed in the box a long time ago.

Yes we have, he did not know it was in there, he bought the box used, he wasn't going to drive forty miles to pick it up wasn't worth it..
