A few years ago I bought a cardboard box of Snap-On odds and ends at an auction in Mt. Carmel Ill. I think they made Snap-On tools there, maybe the old man who`s tools were being auctioned off worked there or knew someone who did. There were some new complete pliers in different styles but were not finished, nor were the plastic coatings put on the handles, sockets, wrenches, crows feet and just a bunch of Snap-On "stuff". Also there was an old F-70 ratchet, after researching it I`m guessing it is from the early 30`s. It`s in good shape for it`s age but all of the ones that I have seen in pictures on the net have a round hole on the end of the handle but this one has a square hole? The stamped date code is an "O" on the plate and not the other stamps I have seen pictured. Any ideas....... thanks a million.

Your ratchet was/ is a refrigeration ratchet. It would have had a 1/4" female square drive gear originally as well. The square hole at the end is for breaking lose a male square head valve.
