Old Snap On MT819 Tach

Hey Fellas-
I have an opportunity to buy a old SO tach. Question- can this tool be used to measure 4 and 2 stroke engines on lawn equipment or is it limited to 6 and 8 cylinders? I know I can purchase a Chicom special for $10 but don’t wanna go that route.
